Endorse - Basic Income UK

We believe that now is the time for the United Kingdom to reform its benefit system and to base it on a Universal Basic Income (also known as a Citizen’s Income).

Universal Basic Income would provide financial security for all, so that everyone has the resources they need to fulfil their potential. We urge others to express support for the principle of a Basic Income with the aim of making it an issue in the next General Election. Basic Income is a regular payment made to every individual, not means tested, non-withdrawable and without work conditions. It would :

Guarantee everyone a secure base which ensures that work always pays
Replace the complex benefits system with a scheme fit for the 21st century
Provide us all, including people who need extra income related to sickness, disability and housing, with the freedom to develop and contribute our talents, and the dignity we all deserve.

With your support we can press politicians to back this idea and make it a key campaign issue at the next General election.

Basic income will make people braver to try a bigger variety of jobs which might not work out; it will also empower single mothers to get married to their partners without fears of losing benefits do to means testing.

I have been out of work for 2 years having worked and paid taxes for over 40 years. I receive zero benefits because I have a pension of £670 to live on. This, according to Her Majesty’s Government, is enough to live on. It is the equivalent of earning £4.66 per hour – this is not only a financial impossibility but is a source of real stress for my family

It’s clear to me that this will remove layer’s of beaurcrecy and give people a stable base to launch self development and become there best thus contributing more to Society.

Automation replacing jobs. We need to make technology work for us. People will spend more. The cost of welfare and the administration of welfare would no longer be needed

Because I don’t see a future for my children and I have seen the massive inhumane things this current system has got people into and it’s wrong extremely wrong!! Nobody should scavage through bins for there next meal! Or die due to having no gas supply!
